Accommodation in dialect contact: evidence from an urban community in Vietnam

Applying Giles' communication accommodation theory and Trudgills model through quantitative analysis method, this paper presents the investigative findings of Northern dialect community in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. Communication is demonstrated by selecting variants new settlement. Research shows that communicative environment has created significant pressure influences level accommodation. It also index compatible with some social variables such as prestige status an immigrant dialect, duration living a city, type communication, marriage models, which, city are most important.
